Metacognition
for primary teachers
A course designed for primary teachers focusing on METACOGNITION. It can be undertaken at an individual level or at a group level, e.g. a phase or whole school. There are discounts available to make school wide access to the course affordable.
The training package will enable you to gain a deep understanding of metacognition so that you can apply metacognition effectively and flexibly in your classroom. The more you know as an educator about metacognition, the more you can weave it into your daily lessons and it becomes a natural part of your practice. Metacognition should not be delivered as a standalone lessons, but threaded into classes. As well as seeking to extend your knowledge and understanding of metacognition, the course also provides many practical resources that can be directly used in class or adapted for use with your pupils. I hope this helps you to get metacognition working in the classroom quickly and easily.
You can watch the video tutorials on a large screen with other colleagues. There are printable resources to help hone your thinking on the topics covered. There are transcripts to refer back to for key videos and slides from any presentations. You can return to sections as often as you like. The course is menu driven allow you to jump to any section of the course easily or you can work your way through the sessions sequentially.
The course is extensive and I would therefore envisage perhaps study taking 6 months to a year if trying to complete it alongside a full classroom time table. It can be completed in a week if you are studying every day - although I would recommend completing the course in chunks and trying things out in the classroom between study sessions if at all possible.
Create metacognitive classrooms. Boost pupil confidence and performance by helping them to be more metacognitive. Design more effective lessons by utilising metacognition theory. You can email me to be invoiced (rather than pay online) if you are a UK school.
